As Activities and Opportunities Officer, Paige is responsible for supporting sports clubs and societies and helping to develop your student experience through events, volunteering opportunities and more. Leading crucial campaigns and lobbying student concerns to the university and beyond. Paige is also a director of the charity of the Students' Union, sitting on the Board of Trustees to make important decisions on matters of finance, accounts and overall running of the charity.

Paige had 3 parts of her manifesto when she was elected:

Cost of Student Living

According to ‘Save the Students’ survey, one in 10 students used a food bank in the 2021/22 academic year. Students are working multiple jobs & putting their studies at risk. I pledge to work with the university on reducing canteen prices, making on-campus food affordable for students.

Communication

Feedback from students says we need to focus on strengthening sport/society committees through improvements to communication. I’d like to establish the 'Student Leaders’ Committee', a termly meeting for committee members; this would act as a direct liaison between them & the SU to discuss events, conflicts & management of sports/societies.

Breaking down barriers

I aim to expand the SU Activity Access Fund to be accessible to students in Societies/other SU Activities, lowering financial barriers to participation. I’ll also set-up focus groups for struggling sports & societies to help with recruitment & engagement of members.
