Fridays - 1:30pm - Oxstalls Campus

The Feminist Society welcomes absolutely everyone to meet and discuss topics surrounding feminism, share books that may be of interest or documentaries/interviews that highlight important issues to the community. It’s a safe space for people to come together and learn (because we never stop learning, it’s a lifelong journey!). We will be learning about feminism within different cultures, and challenging our own views and biases along the way!

 

You don’t have to be a well versed feminist to come along to our meetings! We are all constantly learning, myself included. Feminism and equal rights in general has come a long way in recent years, however we’re still not where we want to be.

 If you even have an inkling that you might be interested in feminism, then pop along and see what it’s all about! It’s always best to learn from others, and this society gives you a fantastic opportunity to meet like minded people and feel a part of a community.

 

Some of the activities we will undertake:

• host discussions on relevant news topics
• recommend books and other media that cover feminism
• craft and a chat sessions
• empower one another with any quotes or speeches that we feel are important
• share our own experiences (when appropriate and if comfortable to do so) and learn from one another
• listen to podcasts/watch media together and discuss these afterwards
• come together with any ideas to improve our experiences within University or our Community as a whole, and present these ideas to those it may concern
• try to get influential guest speakers to come and present
• create a friendly welcoming environment for everyone!
