As the curtain falls on another successful season for UOG Netball, Club Director Jane Taylor has reflected on a year defined by growth, achievement, and a strengthened sense of unity across the club.
From league success on court to community impact off it, the 2025/26 campaign has provided plenty of reasons to celebrate.

Success Across the Club
Among the season’s standout achievements was the promotion of the 3rd team, a reward for months of hard work, dedication, and consistency.
“It was brilliant to see the 3rds gain promotion,” the Club Director said. “They thoroughly deserved it, and it reflected the commitment they showed throughout the season.”
Success was not limited to the performance squads. One of the most exciting developments was the introduction of a fourth recreational team, creating new opportunities for players to compete regularly and enjoy the game in a supportive environment.
“Watching the team come together, build confidence, and compete in a fun league has been fantastic. They’ve embraced the opportunity and shown how important it is to provide pathways for all players.”
Off the court, the club’s fundraising netball tournament proved to be another major success, bringing together sports clubs from across the university in support of a shared cause.
“The event demonstrated what can be achieved when students and staff work together. The support we received was incredible.”
For the Club Director, the greatest achievement was the continued growth of the club itself.
“The atmosphere around training, matches, and socials felt stronger than ever. There was a real sense that we were moving forward together as one club.”
Memorable Moments
While selecting a single highlight proved difficult, the Club Director pointed to the personal growth shown by players throughout the season as one of the most rewarding aspects of the year.
“Seeing players step up in important fixtures, take on responsibility, and achieve things they didn’t think were possible at the start of the season was incredibly special.”
Varsity also stood out as a memorable occasion, with strong support from across the club creating an electric atmosphere and showcasing the collective spirit that has defined the season.

Building a Stronger Future
The club’s development over the past year extended beyond results.
A key focus was strengthening club culture and creating a stronger sense of belonging for all members. According to player feedback, those efforts paid off.
“We made a conscious effort to bring teams together more, and that was reflected in the positive feedback we received.”
Significant progress was also made within the club’s performance environment. Training sessions became increasingly structured and purposeful, while engagement with strength and conditioning programmes improved across all squads.
Looking ahead, the Club Director is determined to build on those foundations by introducing more individualised feedback, expanding opportunities for video analysis, and continuing to refine training delivery.
“The foundations are definitely there. The next step is becoming even more consistent and intentional in how we develop players throughout the club.”
What Makes UOG Netball Special?
When asked what sets UOG Netball apart, the answer was simple: the people.
“We have talented players, but it’s the environment around them that makes the club special. Players genuinely support one another, coaches care about developing people as well as athletes, and the committee works tirelessly behind the scenes.”
The result is a club that balances performance, development, and enjoyment while fostering a strong sense of community.
Looking Ahead
As preparations begin for the 2026/27 season, the focus remains on continuing to strengthen connections between teams, expanding player development opportunities, and raising the profile of UOG Netball both within the university and across the wider netball community.
“We’ve made excellent progress, but there’s still more we can achieve. We have something special here, and I think more people should know about it.”
With preparations already underway, we asked Jane what three-words can sum up next seasons campaign…
“Ambitious. United. Relentless.”
