Captain’s Report: 3rd Team 25/26 BUCS Promotion

Team Picture

The UOG Netball 3rd Team have capped off an outstanding 2025/26 campaign by securing promotion in BUCS, marking a season defined by resilience, unity, and belief.

After entering the season with a talented squad and high aspirations, the team quickly established themselves as promotion contenders. While the initial focus was on building connections and developing cohesion on court, it soon became clear that the group had the quality and determination needed to challenge at the top of the league.

Reflecting on the season, the team captain - Beth Evans - highlighted the growth in confidence and consistency as the defining factor behind the team’s success.

“Going into the season, we knew we had a talented group of players and a lot of potential. Our main aim was to gel together as a squad and make our gameplay as smooth as possible. As the season progressed, promotion became a realistic goal.”

A Season Built on Belief

One of the biggest differences from previous campaigns was the mindset developed throughout the squad.

While last season was marked by moments of uncertainty, this year the team demonstrated a greater belief in both themselves and one another. That confidence proved crucial during difficult matches, allowing the team to find ways to win even when performances were not at their best.

“The biggest turning point was the belief and consistency we developed as a team. We trusted each other more and found ways to win games even when things weren’t going perfectly.”

More Than Just Results

Beyond the victories and league table success, it was the culture within the squad that made this group stand out.

Throughout the season, players consistently supported one another both on and off the court, creating an environment built on hard work, trust, and shared ambition.

“What made this team special was the atmosphere and togetherness within the squad. Everyone bought into the team’s goals, worked hard for each other, and supported one another.”

That unity was tested at times. Like every successful team, the 3rds faced challenges, including injuries, player availability issues, and the pressure that comes with competing for promotion. However, rather than derailing the season, those obstacles helped strengthen the group’s resilience.

“Overcoming those challenges brought us closer together and helped us grow as a team.”

The Moment Promotion Became Reality

When promotion was finally confirmed, months of hard work and dedication were rewarded in a moment that few players will forget.

“It was an incredible feeling. There was a real sense of pride and relief because everyone had worked so hard throughout the season. Seeing all that effort pay off made the achievement even more rewarding.”

For the captain, leading the team to a league title and promotion added an extra layer of significance to an already memorable season.

“Captaining the team to a league victory was a huge honour. I’m incredibly proud of what we achieved together, but this success was definitely a team effort. Every single player contributed to making it happen.”

Building for the Future

While promotion represents a major achievement, the team sees it as the beginning of the next chapter rather than the end of the journey.

The success of the 2025/26 season has provided a strong foundation for future squads, demonstrating what can be achieved through commitment, teamwork, and belief.

“This promotion shows what the team is capable of and sets a strong foundation for the future. Hopefully, it motivates current and future players to keep pushing standards higher and continue striving for even greater success.”

As the celebrations continue, the message from the squad is clear: promotion may have been the goal, but the ambition to keep growing and competing at a higher level is already driving the team forward.
