Nominations for the FTO Elections 2026 have officially closed. From 29th January 2026 to 6th March 2026, students had the chance to put themselves forward to become the next full-time officers and represent the student body for the year ahead.

Now that nominations have closed, the next stage of the election process begins. The Students’ Union team will now be working behind the scenes to ensure all candidates are prepped ahead of voting week. The full list of candidates will be announced on 13th March 2026, so keep your eyes peeled.

These elections are an important moment for the student community. Full-time officers work throughout the year to represent students, improve the academic experience and campaign on the issues that matter most. This can include tackling the cost of living, supporting student groups, improving teaching and learning, and making sure student voices are heard by university leaders.

The elections are also one of the biggest opportunities for students to shape the direction of the Students’ Union. By standing, candidates step forward to lead change. By voting, students help choose who will represent them and hold the university to account on the issues that affect everyday student life.

Once candidates are announced, campaigning will begin across campus and online. Students will be able to read manifestos, attend a question time style event and hear directly from the people standing for election before voting opens.
