This past month we have started strong with our club and society led fundraisers. We have had 6 fundraising events so far with no sign of slowing down! We started off the year with Rugby League with their Old Boys Rugby Match - this is a legacy event held in memory of Martin Roddy. Each year, Tess Roddy chooses where the money raised will go. This year she chose the Rugby League club, in order to help students pay for membership fees that otherwise they wouldn't be able to afford - meaning a more accessible club for all! With their amazing efforts, they rasised over £500.

That's not all for the charity matches - Women's Rugby raised over £600 for Brave Mind, a charity dedicated to improving mental health and wellbeing for the rugby community.

Other fundraisers taking place...

While totals from other clubs are still coming in, we’d love to highlight their fantastic contributions so far:

  • Equestrian hosted a Lip Sync Battle fundraiser.

  • Volleyball organised a multi-club tournament in support of Think Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

  • Both the Islamic Society and Japanese Jiu Jitsu held bake sales.

It is wonderful to see our communities come together and give back to the wider community, making connections for life.

Society Highlight of the week

Biosciences Society have been doing some incredible work over the past few weeks with their partnership with the Butterfly Conservation on Prestbury Hill. They volunteered to help create habitats for butterflies by raking grass and cutting down shrubs and brambles to help give the butterflies the best chance! They also spotted moths, as well as spiders, ladybirds and a dragonfly. Helping both nature and community thrive!
