Over the past week, we’ve had an amazing time celebrating the start of a new year with a fantastic range of Welcome Events hosted by our clubs and societies. It’s been incredible to see so many students getting involved, trying new things, and meeting new friends as our student community came alive with activities and excitement.
Music Society kicked things off with their Frogspawn event, which drew in over 100 people for a night of music, energy, and fun. The atmosphere was electric as students came together to enjoy live performances and start the year with a bang. Over on campus, Lacrosse hosted a creative scavenger hunt that brought together multiple sports clubs for an afternoon of teamwork, laughter, and friendly competition, proving that Welcome Week is all about collaboration as well as fun.
Our Adventure Society took things outdoors with a beautiful walk up Cleeve Hill, which saw their highest ever attendance for a welcome walk, with around 45 people joining in. The stunning views and relaxed vibe made it the perfect way to meet new people while exploring the local area. Meanwhile, LGBTQIA+ Society hosted their wonderful Pride in the Park event, building fantastic partnerships with the local community and creating a welcoming, inclusive space for everyone to celebrate.
And that’s not all—other societies, including Islamic Society, Tennis, Equestrian, and Darts, also ran exciting events that brought students together and showcased the incredible variety of opportunities on offer.
We also put on events such as a Disability Mixer and Access Tour, which was a huge success in making connections for students. Coming up, we are putting on a Sewing Repair workshop, a Pub Quiz, and a Paint and Sip (non-alcoholic).
We’re so proud of all our clubs and societies for putting on such engaging, creative events and giving everyone a chance to feel part of our amazing community. What a way to start the year. We can’t wait to see what’s next!
