Freya Rowley - Activities and Opportunities Officer

This week has been a real mix of things, from supporting lots of Welcome events to spending plenty of time being glossy! The highlight was definitely the EGM. We had so much fun creating lots of informative content around it, and it was amazing to see so many students show up on Thursday. I’m really excited to move forward with electing the eight reps from sports clubs and society committees for the Activities and Opportunities Council and supporting students to make change.

Bianca Holland - Education and Community Officer

This week, the highlight was our EGM. For the first time since 2018, we hit quoracy on the first go, thanks to all the students who showed up and participated. Because of you, the SU now has a new democratic structure, allowing greater student participation and improved access to decision-making spaces. This is an incredible achievement, and I hope everyone who came is proud. Beyond the EGM, I’ve been working on Objective 2 of Glossbound: integrating students into decision-making. Next week brings our first student forum with council, plus discussions with Student Futures to expand accessible opportunities.

Iffat Jahan - Welfare and Diversity Officer

This week has been full of energy and connection following the Welcome Fayre! All of us officers were busy preparing for and hosting the EGM, and I’m delighted with the huge response we received. I spent much of my time meeting and greeting our new students, making sure they felt welcome. I also had the opportunity to share my own journey as an MSc International Business by Research student, which sparked some great conversations. Alongside this, I worked on my Story Sharing Wall, joined Pride in the Park and Rainbow Cuppa, and attended a productive meeting with the Student Futures team.
