Every year, from 25 November (the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) to 10 December (Human Rights Day), the world unites for 16 Days of Activism.
Over 16 Days, people across the UK and around the world will speak out, stand up, and take action — to demand a future where every woman and girl can live free from violence and fear.
Your Students' Union is standing in solidarity with our women+ student community and running campaigns and events throughout the 16 days. We work to ensure that all women+ students have access to safety, choice and a voice.
Our first event is taking place in your SU space, The Living Room on Park Campus on Tuesday 25th November from 12pm. Join us for a space of reflection, solidarity and support as we mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
We’ll begin with an open, thoughtful panel welcoming all students who wish to listen, learn and stand against gender-based violence.
From 1pm Park SU becomes a safe space for women+ to come together in a calm, safe environment for community, conversation, action planning, and activities such as badge and placard making. Come and make connections, share experiences in a safe space, and find support from local organisations and SU Services & Staff as well as comfort from our visiting therapy dogs.
Here at UoG Students' Union, we recognise that trans and non-binary students also experience gender-based violence - our women+ spaces are safe for cis-women and a broader range of people, such as trans women, non-binary individuals, and gender non-conforming people who identify with or feel connected to women's issues and are harmed by misogyny and male violence.
This event is free, inclusive, and designed to offer comfort, community and understanding.
