Students took part in a practical cooking session with PHO Vietnamese Restaurant Cheltenham, organised by Activities and Opportunities Officer Freya as part of her Fed Up: Cost of Living campaign.

The team at Cheltenham PHO ran a hands-on summer roll class, showing students how to prepare fresh Vietnamese rolls from start to finish. They learnt how to make a pickle, prepare the veg and the best technique to roll them up! The session was accessible for all skill levels, including those with little or no cooking experience.

Alongside learning a new type of food, the class focused on simple, realistic cooking ideas students can use at home. Summer rolls were highlighted as a flexible option that works well with leftovers, encouraging students to be more creative with what they already have rather than buying extra ingredients.

The session supported the wider aims of the Fed Up campaign by sharing practical skills that can help students manage food costs while still eating well. Students left with new techniques, a better understanding of Vietnamese cuisine, and a voucher for a free meal.
