Every year, your Students' Union collaborates with UoG to recognise staff who deserve recognition for outstanding work done and the shortlisted nominees and winners are recognised at a festive ceremony on Park Campus!

As the Students' Union, we represent your voice by organising the Student Led Staff Awards, giving you a chance to recognise staff who’ve made a real difference to you being able to unlock your University experience.

Whether it’s a lecturer who makes learning exciting, a technician who goes the extra mile, or a member of support staff who’s been there when it mattered, we wanted to hear about them.

Our Full-Time Officers hosted the awards, leading the way as always - their job is to speak up for students, campaign on the issues that matter, and make sure student life keeps getting better, so they were delighted to celebrate the work of staff that are doing the same.

The Students' Union was blown away by the nominations from students this year for staff members who have gone above and beyond in their roles. Across campuses and Graduation ceremonies, students & graduands voted in their hundreds via golden postcards to submit their votes. As the judging panel, the entire Officer Team had an extremely hard job shortlisting – In fact, the calibre of nominations was so high, that this year, we have introduced a new category to reflect the feedback received.

The Students Special Recognition Award

One member of staff received an incredible number of nominations, across many of the categories.

The students that they have taught, supported and championed filled our golden post-box with cards describing how much they have empowered them and shaped their University journey at UoG. The judging panel felt that this wide-ranging impact deserved Special Recognition.

The Students’ Union is delighted to announce that the winner of the first ever Students’ Recognition Award was LOU BIRT – JOURNALISM

Congratulations again from the Students’ Union to all of our nominees and winners. Thank you, for making our students’ University journey one to remember.

Keep an eye out in the new year for photos and updates of nomination deliveries to staff across the campuses...
