Welcome to the Karting Club!
Are you looking for a thrill? Wanting to meet like-minded individuals with the same interests as you? Or simply want to try something new? We are the club for you!
With both competitive and recreational memberships, all skill levels are welcome, whether you're a beginner who has never stepped foot on the track before or someone with a lot of previous experience!
We visit various indoor and outdoor tracks, ensuring you get the best experience possible!
What do we have to offer you?
- A fun and exciting time go karting with like-minded people who enjoy the sport as much as you do or opening the door to new experience
- Fun-filled socials (both drinking and non-drinking)
- A chance to compete in the British Universities Karting Championship (BUKC) as well as monthly visits to tracks for recreational means
Do I need to bring anything to the events?
No, you don't need to bring anything with you to the sessions! Race suits and helmets are provided by the venue, though it is compulsory to wear balaclavas and gloves when karting (these can be provided if you do not already have one, or bought at the venue).
It is recommended with competitive memberships that you do purchase your own racing kits (suit, helmet, gloves and shoes) as these are limited supply at BUKC events. You are more than welcome to wear these to recreational sessions too.
It is compulsory to wear an item of the university-branded karting kit that can be purchased on the SU site for BUKC events (a link will be provided when available).
I want to join but don't want to take part competitively, is this okay?
That's completely fine! A large majority of our members don't take part competitively and simply meet with us every few weeks for casual karting. We welcome anyone who wants to participate and are always willing to help you improve and get you to a level where you may wish to compete. A competitive membership also covers you for recreational sessions too so don't worry, if you want to do both you'll only have to buy the one!
