Members of our Biosciences Society, along with their course lecturers, recently came together to plant a small orchard of apples and pear trees at Park Campus, designed to support biodiversity and long-term sustainability.

The event was attended by Vice-Chancellor Clare, Cheltenham MP Max Wilkinson and Glossy the goat who joined students in planting the trees and recognising the importance of student-led environmental initiatives.

The idea for the orchard grew from conversations within the society about the environmental impact of AI and the role small, local actions can play in responding to global challenges. While the orchard is small, the project reflects a wider commitment to making positive contributions to the campus environment.

Over time, the orchard is expected to provide a valuable habitat for wildlife as well as a space for students to engage with sustainability in a practical way!
