This week marked the launch of our Student Leader Accreditation programme, being run by the Activities and Opportunities Officer, Freya. It’s an exciting opportunity designed to recognise and develop the skills of our sport and society student leaders. The programme, which is officially accredited by Gloucester City Council, provides students with a structured pathway to reflect on their leadership experiences and enhance their employability post-university

To kick off the programme, 15 student leaders ranging from Lacrosse to Book Soc took part in interactive Add Victor workshops, exploring what makes an effective leader and how to translate those qualities into future career success. Add Victor, known for connecting student athletes with graduate opportunities in sport and business, offered valuable insights into leadership, teamwork, and self-development, but mostly what being a project manager is, and how it’s a skill they already possess as leaders. Sports leaders will also gain access to the Add Victor recruitment platform, helping them link their skills and experiences to real-world opportunities.

Over the coming months, students will take part in a series of sessions, including CV and LinkedIn development workshops with Student Futures, a second workshop with Alex from Add Victor as well as an end-of-year presentation where they will consolidate their learning and prepare for future interviews.

The first session highlighted to us as a Students' Union that we are incredibly lucky to have such talented and passionate student leaders, but more importantly, gave the individuals participating a boost in confidence as they take their next steps.
