In December, our Ski & Snow Society took a trip to Val Thorens for an amazing ski experience on the mountains!
They were there for a whole week and each day started out on the slopes until lunch. The resort had many activities to get them through each day, including après, and socials with other university ski clubs that were also there enjoying the snow.
These are some of the events they experienced while they were out there...
The race day BBQ
A BBQ selling burgers and hotdogs while all the universities competed against each other in teams of 4, it was downhill slalom skiing; They made a valiant effort in the competition, but unfortunately, due to a boot getting caught on a post slowing one of their skiers down, they got eliminated in the first round. But there was live music, a bar, and a huge crowd of people watching we still got to enjoy the rest of the event!

The igloo rave
For this event they met at the slopes at 7:30pm and the NUCO reps (who run the ski trip for university clubs) and Ski patrol safely guided us up the slopes at night. They walked for about 20 mins before we reached an igloo at the side of the slope. This event lasted until 11pm, where there was a bar outside with a huge area to chat and get to know other students from around the continent! Inside one of the igloos was a DJ and the other 6 igloos were connected with lots of seating and very interesting ice sculptures inside
It was an incredibly social week, meeting all kinds of people and making friends. On three of the six days we were in France, they had social events, where our society had organised with all of the other unis to have joint themes! The themes were minions, wigs and onesies.
