Freya Rowley - Activities and Opportunities Officer

This week has been full of exciting opportunities to champion students across the board. On Tuesday, we held our first Student Council of the year, which sparked plenty of thoughtful and engaging discussions. On Wednesday, I travelled to Derby for the BUCS Student Officer Network, where we shared ideas on supporting students through sport and pushing for meaningful change within our institutions. Thursday took me to Coventry to meet the Akuma team and explore new, more affordable kit designs to support students during the cost-of-living crisis. I also spent time preparing food bags for next week’s Fed Up food bank.

Bianca Holland - Education and Community Officer

This week, I met with Course Reps to discuss current accommodation issues, these reps worked extremely hard to get evidence so we could create a document to take forward to the university. I worked with Course Reps to develop and finalise a new policy. The policy focused on protecting academic discounting at UoG, ensuring students keep the 30-credit flexibility despite the OfS's proposed changes. This was presented and successfully passed at Student Council. I also put together a “I Said, You Did” update to close the feedback look, you can read it on my blog

Iffat Jahan - Welfare and Diversity Officer

This week has been mostly engaging. At the end of last week, I attended our very first Sub-Council meeting, which was successful and provided valuable insights. Earlier this week, I participated in a meeting with the University Executive team, where I represented student perspectives and provided an update on the advancement of my priority campaign. I also attended the Student Council meeting, where I received updates from all councils and contributed my own. Overall, it has been a meaningful week of collaboration, representation, and ensuring students’ needs and concerns are clearly heard.
