Freya Rowley - Activities and Opportunities Officer
This week, I focused on the delivery of the Add Victor workshops as part of the Student Leader Accreditation programme. Across two engaging sessions, a range of sports and society leaders explored what makes an effective leader and how to apply these skills in future employment opportunities. It was great to see so much enthusiasm and engagement from our student leaders. I’ve also had lots of valuable conversations with students preparing to nominate themselves for Student Council rep roles, supporting them in writing manifestos and understanding the role.
Bianca Holland - Education and Community Officer
This week’s highlight was Glossbound Goes Ghost, an event focused on connecting students with local community groups and promoting the Community Access Fund, which helps students access community events across Gloucester. I also attended Academic Board, where we discussed key issues that will impact students in future years. I made sure the student voice was heard by representing feedback gathered earlier from our Student Voice and Course Officers (SVCOs). It’s been a busy but rewarding week, and I hope everyone has a productive planning or progress week ahead!
Iffat Jahan - Welfare and Diversity Officer
This week, I’ve launched the Story Sharing Wall to celebrate Black History Month, encouraging students to express their feelings about this year’s theme - Standing Firm in Pride and Power. The initiative has already started engaging students across campuses. Alongside this, I’ve been actively planning for the upcoming Diwali celebration, supporting students who wish to take part in the festivities and ensuring an inclusive environment for everyone. I also attended a meeting with the Careers Support Team to explore more ways to assist international students in finding suitable opportunities and strengthening their career pathways at the University.
