Each week throughout the academic year you'll be able to learn about what your elected Full Time Officers are doing on your behalf. This is the first in series but keep an eye out each Friday for the most recent news. Remember, you can always get in contact with Bianca, Freya or Iffat if you want to know more or get involved!

Freya Rowley - Activities and Opportunities Officer

This week I've been away with the officer team and senior SU staff for a few days of team building, planning, sharing ideas, and eating biriyani and roast dinner! It’s been a great chance to get to know each other better and start shaping what we want to achieve this year.

As part of that, I’ve been refining my priority campaign; I’m feeling really excited about the direction it’s heading in. There are some exciting ideas in the works, and I can’t wait to start turning them into real, positive changes and fun events across campus.

Bianca Holland - Education and Community Officer

Hi y’all I’m Bianca, your Education and Community Officer. Bit about me: I have just finished my law degree, been president of the Mooting and Law society for 2 years and actively part of SU student voice; being a Course Rep and SVA.

This week the officers had a meeting with Clare Marchant (University Vice-Chancellor) to discuss the going on’s at the university and I have been building my priority campaign. In addition, I have been working on a few side projects for this year. I'm excited to get started and to implement changes that improve your life at university.

Iffat Jahan - Welfare and Diversity Officer

This week has been both productive and energising. I mapped out my year-long campaign strategy, centering it around issues that truly matter to students. In my meeting with the University senior managers, we had a dynamic and collaborative discussion where I outlined my goals as Welfare and Diversity Officer. Together, we explored meaningful initiatives to better support student wellbeing and inclusion across campus.

On top of that, I’ve kicked off preparations for the Welcome Fair and its surrounding events - making sure every new and returning student feels seen, supported, and excited to engage from day one. It’s been a week of strategic planning, purposeful connection, and real momentum toward creating a positive and inclusive student experience.
