Our Darts Society is now through to the 16th round of the University Darts League for the first time in competition history, winning 16 vs 6 against Swansea University this week, leaving their A team in third position in the Central West League table, and their B team in 5th close behind. Their darts stats for this competition was a 102 checkout for Tom Purnell, a 21-dart leg from Matt Sutcliffe, and a 100 checkout and 20-dart leg from James Pryer.

Previously, they've beaten University of Leicester with a score of 8 vs 3, with the stats 2 x 28 dart-leg for Jack Payne and Alfie Element in their doubles match, a 20-dart leg for Alfie Element, and an impressive 180 for James Pryer.

They also have ambitions of supporting a women's darts team with all the new members they have had this year already!

Society updates

TableTop's weekly sessions on Thursdays have been so popular that they have had to book even more spaces to accommodate all of the amazing games they have - while still maintaining space for a quiet room for neurodivergent students to decompress and enjoy the activities.

Recently across all campuses, Christian Union have led Impact Groups to get the students talking - these discussions on faith, current affairs, and philosophies are open to all to get involved with.

At the end of last week, Nintendo hosted a group of Pokémon Professors from The Cavern in Gloucester to teach people how to play the TCG (Tabletop Card Game) Pokémon. This included our Gaming & E-Sports Society and Chinese Traditional Games Society and was open to any students who were interested in learning about the game play!

SU Society News

To support our societies, we have been doing 1-2-1s with each committee to chat about what they've been up to, and what exciting plans they have coming. It has been wonderful to meet with our student leaders and get to know even more about their passions and the communities they have created here at UoGSU - we are so excited to be there for every step of the way.

We have also been busy helping students start new societies, with some classic societies making a comeback - such as Student Nurse Soc, and DJ Soc. It's incredible to have such committed students to lead these societies. This promotes community, and helps support all members in their academics, their social life, and their mental health by creating these networks.

Society Highlight of the week

Climbing Society has just hosted possibly the largest society social collaboration in years! They put on an event "Zombies vs Humans" for a spooky social, which joined together the Climbing Soc, Biosciences Soc, Art Soc, and Taylor Swift Soc (to name a few!) for a social out across many venues in Cheltenham.
