Some assignments are due on Mondays which means extensions only become available on Saturdays. If something goes wrong with the system it can be difficult to get in contact with the correct people to solve the issue. When ill or suffering an adverse life event, people want to be able to just get the extension and not have to worry about it whilst they recover. Placing such a short timeframe for getting the extension causes an additional thing for people to worry about on top of the stress they already have. Extensions deadlines can take up to 48hrs to register the change on Moodle, causing more stress for the students worrying if the extension has worked.
