More parking spaces at Oxstalls campus

    Current
After interviewing a few students at Oxstalls, the results have shown that the majority travels to campus 3 or more times per week, and many times students have gone home after not being able to find parking space. This not only has a major impact on their studies, as they either show up to class late or miss an entire lecture, but also on the environment and their finances, using so much petrol to drive back and forth between parking spaces or even going back home wasting a journey. Oxstalls needs more parking spaces. There is not only the business school building, but also performing arts, health and social care and many other undergraduate/postgraduate courses with 20+ students in each year. So many students commute and drive even up to 40 minutes to get to university, it’s only fair that the parking situation gets discussed and fixed.

7:10pm on 21 Mar 24 This definitely needs to happen. I pay for an annual pass to park at uni and most days I struggle to get a space for my mid day lectures. When I’m paying over 9,000 a year for tuition fees this is simply not acceptable. Especially when members of the public are permitted to take up spaces that could be used for university students.

8:38pm on 9 Apr 24 I'm a student & Career Coach at the Uni, and I visit Oxstalls regularly for work. Every single time I've gone this year the car park has been full... it's ridiculous. The most annoying thing is that a large number of the spaces are taken up by people who don't even study or work at the University. Every single Wednesday around 20 people come in to use the cafe, which takes up a large number of spaces. This has caused a lot of students to avoid attending if they can't drive in, which is crazy considering they're paying 9250 just to be here.
