JOB DESCRIPTION

 

TITLE:  Sales Assistant

RESPONSIBLE TO:  The Retail Manager

HOURS OF WORK:  7 hours per week Saturdays

HOLIDAY ENTITLEMENT:  20 working days per year rising to 25 days, plus 3 concessionary days to be used in agreement with Senior Management (pro rata).

KEY TASKS.

To provide sales and administrative support for The Furniture Recycling Project (FRP), and any subsidiary companies e.g. NFP Trading Ltd., in its day to day activities. You will be part of a team, enabling the Project to increase its activities to include Saturday opening in order to meet increasing demand of our service, maximising revenue from the sales of donated goods, new goods and other services where appropriate.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES.

To maximise sales opportunities in order that our customers receive a prompt quality service.

To respond promptly to all telephone enquiries answering customer requests and queries with courtesy and consideration demonstrating good customer service and telephone skills.

To help in the merchandising of goods, including pricing of all stock.

To input data onto the relevant systems correctly, quickly and efficiently.

To work as a member of the team in the effective operation of the collection and delivery service.

To arrange deliveries with customers and provide contact details regarding our collection service

To ensure Gift Aid envelopes and collection surveys are posted to customers prior to collection of goods.

To contact /telephone/write to customers prior to collection of goods to ensure all goods comply with Trading Standards requirements.

To print delivery and collection sheets daily before 14.30pm when required

To help maintain filing and record keeping for the Project.

To undertake training, where appropriate and to develop work practices and relevant skills.

 

The nature of the post, will dictate that in a small organisation, the person appointed must be flexible, and, when required, carry out duties outside of the detailed job description.

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION.

 

 

Ø      Knowledge of Microsoft office computer programmes is preferred

 

Ø      A good telephone manner is essential

 

Ø      The ability to work as part of the team for the benefit of the Project

 

Ø      A willingness to develop and learn new skills.

 

Ø      You will need to be able to relate to individuals of all abilities and backgrounds due to the nature of the work of the Project.

 

Ø      As we work with a range of individuals, including young people and vulnerable adults, an enhanced CRB will be required.

 

The Project operates a strict ‘No Smoking’ policy, except in designated areas. We are striving to become an equal opportunities employer.

Place of work: Unit 1, Grosvenor House, Station Road, Gloucester GL1 1SZ and other sites as required
