Jimmy has been a star player this season for Men's Rugby Union first team, after his conversion from Rugby League. He has still managed to get through to Wales students League side though and sounds like he has made a huge impact here too.
He said this about his recent outing for Wales: "I played for Wales students against Cardiff Rugby League recently, it was my first game of rugby league since my injury 2 and half years ago and I extremely enjoyed it, as I was playing with and against friends who I hadn’t seen in a long time!! I also managed to cross the try-line on a few occasions which was exceptionally pleasing as I feel there is no feeling in the world that comes close, to the one you feel when you make a break, or beat a player and/or score, it’s like a wave of excitement and adrenaline comes rushing over you, in a heartbeat!! The teams on the day where fantastic and very welcoming and both set of teams where having fun and a laugh with each other on and off the field of play! We (Wales) managed to eventually win 42-20 and hopefully I’ve done enough to impress the coaches.
I also felt enormously proud and privileged for this opportunity to represent my country, family and university and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has helped throughout my re-hab and kept believing in me and supporting myself, even now!! From fellow students, lecturers, friends, physios and my coaches. In-particular my family who were always there for me and kept supporting me!!!
Always remember that, no matter how much it hurts, how dark it gets, or how far you fall… as long as you keep believing……then your never out of the fight!!"
He is now hoping to help the Rugby Union boys put some points past Worcester to secure Varsity Victory. The game is on the 24th of April at the Prince of Wales stadium. For more info and tickets please visit www.bluevarsity.com.
