We are the Japanese Language Society.

What we do:

To put it simply we learn Japanese but the society is much more than that, we study the cultural background and many other aspects that link back to the language such as honorifics and how the language differs when speaking formally as opposed to informally. We learn Japanese as an entire package as opposed to learning any singular part of the language. We try to focus on using Japanese since we believe experience is the best tutor of them all.

Whether you're an experienced master who's lived in Japan and has N2 level Japanese or a complete beginner you're welcome to join at any time, we teach the basics such as Hiragana, Katakana, Kanji and the grammar which will be more than enough to get you started and get learning.

What do I need?

You need a drive to learn, basic stationery and some paper, we try to provide as many resources as needed and can point you in the direction of many free online resources that we use

How much does it cost?

The society has a joining fee of £5. we will sometimes charge for social events and trips to places such as Hyper Japan and Doki Doki Manchester

How do I get in contact?

Feel free to e-mail any of the committee members if you have any questions and we will be happy to answer them. Join our group on Facebook for regular updates on events and the general happenings of the society. We highly recommend that you join the Discord server since this is where we are most active and we have the most tools such as a homemade Bot capable of writing in Japanese and special chat spaces for speaking both English and Japanese.
