It’s Ok not to be Ok right now… How would you want others to treat you?
I’m Gary, I’m Dyslexic and was grieving through my last degree due to a family suicide. I’m now a mature first year Mental Health Nursing student and so much more than a disability or a mental health label.
I am applying for the Disability and Mental Health experience Officer. My experience includes sitting on the Trades council, a Unison rep, an NHS employee and previously an expert by experience.
Most of us will experience distress, but its up to us to stop it being disabling
My main goals with the SU are to:
- Promote and signpost services in and out of the University
- Empower creative heathy choices, living in a pandemic
- Continuing conversations about stigma, hidden disabilities and equality of access.
