Candidate for the position of BA (Hons) Education, Inclusion and Special Educational Needs L4 - Academic Rep

Jessica Fehribach

I want to be a course rep because I feel I am approachable and reliable. I make myself welcoming towards everyone in my course (and the Education-only branch because we’re all quite mixed together right now). I’m a good public speaker having done theatre for many years and I have been told I am an inherently caring person. I deeply care about my course as well. Before uni, I was working one-to-one with an autistic primary school student and he completely changed my life. I spent every day fighting for him and being his voice and I spent every day being told I didn’t know what I was talking about and to stay in my place. I was made to feel like a number, not someone with value or someone who potentially had something helpful to contribute. I became very passionate about my work and I would like to bring that passion forwards into everything I do. Being a course rep would give me the opportunity to use my passion to help my peers, and future students at UoG, develop the same passion and go out into the world aiming to better the lives of children like my student.
