Candidate for the position of Sports Network Lead

Eve Perkins

I pledge to help the UOG Sport community grow, gain more team sign ups, become more approachable and inclusive. We all know that many of those who play a sport at UOG are already quite tight knit; but the more students we can get to join a team, the more we can help those teams grow and leave a legacy behind.

My name is Eve Perkins, I am a second year journalism student, as well as UOG Netball Club’s marketing secretary. I am an intuitive and caring person; I believe this will help me in the Sport Network Lead role as I will be able to make decisions based on everyone’s best interest.

I am standing for this role as I believe it helps make UOG a better place and I would love to play a part in that.

I stand to represent those who may feel a bit nervous to join a team, with a focus on those in second year upwards. Those who have already been to UOG for a year could feel it’s too late to join a team, I saw this whilst recruiting for our netball team. I want to help the UOG Sport community grow by making it as welcoming as possible for anyone.

I also want to help people who are part of UOG Sport get to know each other. Like I said, we’re already a tight knit community, but I’d love to see everyone getting together at events and mixing up. For example, a competition where sports club can enter, then teams will be made up of different people from different clubs.

I know that I can help make the UOG Sport community a wider, more inclusive, and all round better place.
