Mature Students Society
The Mature Students Society is a society run by mature students for mature students.
You are a mature student if you began you undergraduate degree over the age of 21, or your postgraduate studies over the age of 23.
Part of the society is the informal peer support network that becomes created; we aren’t a counselling or advice service but we are all trying to balance life inside and outside of university. Sometimes having someone to chat with is helpful, likewise is having someone to not talk about university workload or work/life balance with is also helpful.
One of the society's aims is to arrange a few social events throughout the semesters which will give you the opportunity to meet other mature students. These socials may vary from an afternoon coffee meet up or a trip in to town for music or cinema. We will also encourage you to plan to arrange your own social events so hopefully everyone has something they can be involved in. Getting something out of this society depends on what we all put in.
There are plenty of other societies and sports clubs at the university that we can all get involved with so maybe finding other mature students with common interests is what will benefit you most from this society.
