Hi my name is Isobel Jary (Izzie), I am currently the President of the Law Society. I am running for Societies Network Lead, as I want to get the societies to work together and support each other more. It is sometimes perceived that UoG is a sporty University and a lot of the time sport societies seem to take precedent. My aim over the year is to get together with all the different societies and look at how we can work together to bring in the momentum and atmosphere that sports do. In doing this, it should bring a higher awareness of all the societies the SU offer and boost memberships. Many students I speak to know about the different sports; however, they do not know about the societies this University offers. There are currently 29 different sports at Gloucester and 45 different societies – let’s work together to build our presence and promote our societies!

I will also hold termly meetings in which every society would be invited to attend, to have a discussion with other societies about any problems they are having and to meet other societies they may not have met before. Educating not just others but ourselves about the community around us. This would provide an opportunity to work together to solve any issues, creating an open and transparent community allowing our perspective societies to grow and flourish.
